Joseph F. Delano is the owner of Delano Financial Management, and a Registered Principal with LPL Financial. He has been in the investment arena for over 30 years. After graduating from Trinity College in Hartford, Ct., he moved to San Diego, Ca. where he received his introduction and extensive training in the industry with the prestigious firm of E.F. Hutton, continuing his career as a Financial Advisor with Merrill Lynch.
In 1991 Joe joined LPL Financial as the Vice President of the Eastern Region working out of the downtown Boston headquarters. He was instrumental in helping LPL grow into the largest independent broker/dealer in the United States bringing in hundreds of new branch offices and many financial institution (banking) relationships. These independent offices and financial institutions receive technological support, research, training, legal and compliance support, which allows LPL to bring “Wall Street to Main Street”.
Joe changed his affiliation with LPL in 1999 when he transitioned from an employee to an independent business owner and client of LPL. He has operated as a LPL Registered Principal, and Owner of Delano Financial Management since then.
Aside from private investment management for retail clients, Delano Financial Management (DFM) also provides management services to a dozen LPL Financial Advisors serving both retail clients and working through several financial institutions throughout the state of Massachusetts, with headquarters located in Marlborough, MA.
Mr. Delano currently holds the following securities registrations with LPL Financial: Series 3 (National Commodity Futures), Series 7, Series 24 (General Securities Principle), and the Series 53 (Municipal Securities Principal). Additionally, he holds licenses for Life, Health, and Disability insurances, as well as for Variable Annuities.
Among other professional and charitable affiliations, Joe was a founder and served for several years as the Chairman of the Board of the Main Street Journal newspaper in Marlborough, Ma. In addition, he has served as a board member and then Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Marlborough, Inc.
Also, of note is his past service on the Board of Directors for St. Mary’s Credit Union, and he continues as a member of the Board of Director’s Asset Liability Committee.
Mr. Delano had dedicated a considerable part of his life to another type of public service. He has been elected to six consecutive two-year terms as a City Councilor in Marlborough, MA and is currently in his 12th year of service as the Ward 1 Councilor. Previously Joe was elected to and served a 4-year term on the Marlborough School Committee. Serving others has apparently gotten to be quite a habit.
